on my way

6:05 pm EST and in 36 or so hours I'll [hopefully] be settling into a hotel room in HK for a week of orientation and training. I got the week's schedule in my inbox two days ago and am pretty excited about all the things I'm going to learn, including the language!

Finished packing everything today, which, if you know me, is a little late. I'm normally fully packed like two weeks early, but I put it off this time. Getting the schedule for training made the trip seem more real, but it still doesn't feel like I'm about to move to EA for six months. But I decided that it will be good for me to be away from home for Thanksgiving, Christmas, and my birthday, so that I can get used to the feeling, since it will probably happen a lot more in the future.

Cleaned my room yesterday. It hardly looks like I live here! Which will be true in 24 hours.

So here's the deal, after those disconnected opening thoughts. My first week in EA will be spent, like I said, in HK for training. After that, I fly to LC for language studies. Six weeks of that, and then I move to the farm, where I'm pretty sure I'll spend the rest of my time. There, my partner Hannah and I will help the Ms with everyday house and farm work, hospitality stuff, and most importantly, caring for at least four precious kiddos and doing some homeschooling. I can't really wait!

Every one asks me if I'm nervous or excited. The answer is yes. But more excited than nervous. More nervous about flying than anything else, because I hate to fly. Most excited about living with the Ms and learning from them. I know that I'll be so busy I'll barely have time to get home sick. Four kiddos under the age of six will keep my partner and me pretty busy!

I guess I'm ready to go!
