Candid Camera

So farm life isn't always bland. We don't wake up with the roosters (because we don't have any roosters) and milking the cow is still a very future possibility (that is, if the cow ever gives birth).
So we take our fun where we can, and enjoy every minute of it.

Camels? In China? This Bactrian (Two-Humped) Camel was brought from who-knows-where to the recent Expo in town. Seems it was time to celebrate Lincang's Five Year Anniversary of being a city. What was it before that? Who knows...

One of the biggest excitements lately has been the preparation of ground for the big slab of concrete to be poured soon. A Bulldozer came about two weeks ago and flattened the ground and spread around the dirt. All the boys (read men) came down to watch the earth-mover move earth. I felt manly just watching...

We got to go into town to go "ice skating" at the local roller rink. There isn't really any ice, but apparently "roller skating" doesn't translate, so they call it ice skating. I haven't attempted it since I was about eleven, and wasn't any good. I got run over a bunch of times by the cool kids (just like high school) so I quit. Fun fact: Purple is the coolest color in China, and more boys wear purple than girls!

For Astronomy class a few weeks ago, we studied Mars. Mars hosts the largest volcano in our solar system, Olympus Mons. So we made a model. Really, the girls did it, but this picture of Ezra is just awesome. He really enjoyed the eruption. Oh, the wonders of baking soda and vinegar...

And we took the girls into town for a tennis lesson a few weeks ago. Everyone asked us if they were twins. Nope, they aren't. But they are silly. And they love Chinese food much more than me!
