Laffy Taffy and other Homemade Adventures...

Hannah is Suzy Homemaker. Or her mom is. Which makes her Suzy's progeny, and therefore Suzy II. She's always making something. Now, I admit, I'm crafty, but things always look better in my head than when they turn out...with the exception of the awesome Christmas gifts I made for my family last year...man, those were great...
So, back to Suzy Homemaker. Hannah decides to make Taffy. Homemade. For Kid's Night. I made sugar cookies...
So the kids put butter on their hands, and start stretching the incredibly hot taffy...and then it hardens. Into candy. Hard candy. As in not chewy. And the peppermint flavor is only a slight hint, if anything. So, now you have a bunch of pink butter scotch candy! Woohoo!
Some other things that have been going on lately? I made a star to top our tree!

Want the recipe? You need:
A square of cardboard
A toilet paper roll, empty
Aluminum foil
Marker, pen, pencil, or chunk of coal
Scotch tape

Draw a star shape on the cardboard, as big as you like (so long as you have enough foil to cover it. Remember to draw a stick about 1 inch thick between the bottom two points, so it will fit down into the toilet paper roll. Cut out the shape. Lay it on a sheet of foil at least wide enough to cover all points. Fold foil over, understanding that the foil will not cover the center of the star. Tape the foil in place. Lay star down on another sheet of foil, covered side up. Repeat folding and tape down. You are now looking at the back of the star. Using one last piece of foil, roll the empty TP roll until covered. Tape seam, and push end of foil inside the roll. Insert the stick into the roll. Top tree.
Oh, and there's a new baby calf here. This is a picture of him at two days old. Now, we're going to start milking the cow! Well, probably not me, but someone, soon, will milk the cow...
And we pass the time by playing Dance Praise (think DDR with Toby Mac) and laughing at my incredible inability to dance in a coordinated fashion...
That's what we've been up to lately, who about you?
