Going back to when it all began...

Here's a little recap post of some things that have happened so far on my trip. We've seen and done a lot, and I'm going to try to post two rounds of pictures if time allows...it just takes so long to upload that I don't know how that plan will go!

This is Hong Kong at night from Victoria Peak. We went up there for dinner and the view. Dinner was Bubba Gump Shrimp Co and I had ribs! They were awesome! Then we went out to enjoy the view of the city from the other side. It was a great night.

We were invited by some new friends to come observe at their English School. The classes were for Kindergartners through Middle Schoolers, and we got to witness teaching styles and lessons. They pronounce "moon" as "Moo-won." And they yell and scream the whole class. I'd post a video, but that's too much "mafan"

Here I am eating a local snack food that our teacher brought home for us. It's dried, sugared squid. Actually not all that bad. But you do have a squidy taste in your mouth for a while.

This is our friend Heath. A bunch of us went out to dinner at the local seafood restaurant. The table was so small I could only get pictures of one person at a time...I don't think that makes sense, but there were six of us crowded around this teensy table, peeling shrimp and the smallest crab I've ever seen and making trash piles...P.S. Chopsticks are not very useful for either shrimp or crab...It's best to just use your fingers! And it was spicy, and there were French Fries in the soup...Interesting experience!

And this is me at a local amusement park. I didn't try to ride the Pandas Beating Drums, but I did pose with it. There was aslo a log ride, and an elevated bicycle track. We did the Bike Track but not the Log Ride...scared of the sanitariness of the water, but apparently not scared of the ricketiness of a rusted, elevated single line track...hmmm. Anyways, we had fun. Watched a bunch of guys catch huge fish in nasty water full of black sludge (understand our worries about the cleanliness of the water?). It was a fun time!

We took our teacher out to the farm to learn to make pizza. She likes to try American food, and she really liked the pizza! She also has a thing for shopping for clothes, and likes to be "Western," hence the Rolling Stones Tee.

I made dinner one weekend for about thirty guests. Chicken Teriyaki Shish-kebobs. And I even touched the raw meat myself! And it was delicious! This is a picture of Grill Master Monty's arm...the same arm that tended the beautiful food you also see in the picture.

We have celebrated five birthdays since arriving here! Hannah turned 18, Ezra turned 1, Henna turned 5, Kelly turned [shhh...don't tell...], and Judah turned 3. This is a picture of Henna and En Yu stealing icing off Henna's very own birthday cake. Sneaky girls!

Market shopping is always an adventure. Here, we are trying to figure out how much meat we want, and then how to tell the guy how much we want. We ended up with 3 jin. More than we asked for, but it was all only 30 kuai! Think 3 pounds of beef for 4 bucks!

And the Langstons have a Wii. Here, Hannah is trying to help Spencer with his coordination. Something about little boys and their bodies moving too fast for them to keep up with! He's trying to box, but can't seem to step and kick at the same time... We had a blast that night!

Well, that's the brief recap of some exciting things happening here. I'll post some farm pictures next!
